About Us
Scaoilte Theatre is a theatre comhargrúpa, based in Kildare and Dublin. Scaoilte is interested in creating bilingual, politically aware, socially conscious, and environmentally focused theatre. Scaoilte operates by the principles of a comhargrúpa: where every artist on the team has an equal say in the artistic decisions made by the whole. One strand within a production is as valid as the next, and each artist on the team has a voice as important as the next. Ecologically sustainable theatre practices are at the heart of what Scaoilte does, with a focus in creating work that can permeate long into the future. Scaoilte Theatre’s work has been supported by Kildare County Council, Roscommon County Council, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, and Creative Ireland.
